Apple Posts Earnings of $7.79 a Share

Apple (AAPL) this afternoon reported fiscal Q3 revenue and earnings per share well ahead of expectations.

Apple revenue in the June-ended quarter rose to $28.6 billion, yielding earnings per share of 7.79 per share.

Analysts on average were expecting $25 billion in revenue and $5.85 in EPS.

For fiscal Q4, Apple sees revenue of $25 billion and EPS of $5.50, below the consensus $27.7 billion annd $6.42.

It shipped 9.25 million iPads and 20.3 million iPhones.

If you've followed apple, you would know they always low ball estimates.

AAPL always guides down the expectation for the next quarter, in part responsible for the firework behavior of the stock around the ER date ...

Last earnings release they estimated:
we expect revenue of about $23 billion and we expect diluted earnings per share of about $5.03

i chased aapl since it was 89, yes, 89.00.
ER play this time is little different, price in % is higher than before. that's why I think this time, meat might not be big.
