A.  Ask, does your brokerage firm have free DRIP - Dividend Re-Investment Plan, if NOT, then it cannot be used. Also, you need to check if they charge small position fee, if they do, this method is absolute useless.

I do know some US mutual funds do charge small position fee, not on stocks as far as I know.

IB: NO, absolute NOT
THINKORSWIM: I think they belong to TDAmeritrade, who might have, but "some restrictions apply"

小孩用一分钱买到油又买到糖果对交易的启示

    有个小孩，很喜欢吃糖果，只要父亲有钱经他的手，他必定要抽一些钱买糖果来吃。父亲很是气愤，但又不好发作，于是就出个难题，设计故意捉弄儿子。这回父亲手拿一分钱与一个空油瓶递给了儿子，让他上街去买油。在那个年代，一分钱是可以买一粒糖果的，但要买油、一分钱的基数还是太小了。
    小孩明白：如果买不到油，那一分钱自然就得交回给父亲，自己吃糖的目标肯定不能达到。但他眉头一皱计上心来，很干脆接过一分钱与油瓶。他当然不是想这一分钱能否买到油，而是知道如何才能买到糖果吃又能完成买油的任务。
    小孩先到油铺说要买一瓶油，当售货员将油装满油瓶称了重量后要他付款时，他上下摸袋说道：你还是将油瓶的油倒回油桶吧，我买油的钱不知怎弄掉了。售货员说：小朋友，以后要小心点，掉了钱会捱父亲骂的。他说“我已经很小心了”。然后他到糖果店买了一粒糖果，悠哉游哉边吃边进了家门。
    父亲见他口含糖果，手拿空油瓶，想他买了糖果肯定缴不回那一分钱的了，借此好好整治他一回。于是，准备好了严肃的表情，提出要收回刚才给他的那一分钱。
    小孩不紧不慢指着油瓶说钱已买油了，父亲说那是空瓶。小孩就打开瓶盖，对着碗倒转油瓶，不一会，在瓶壁里附着的油慢慢滴了几点下来。小孩指着几滴油转身对着父亲很无奈地说：一分钱就这些油，阿姨说这已经是给多了一些。
    父亲顿时气噎，自言自语道：这臭小子反把我给耍了，无师自通，愚子可教，大有培养前途。
    我们做交易，也要学那小孩，在别人不留意又想不到的地方，多动脑筋，用别人想不到的方法，寻找赚钱机会，以便有钱买糖吃呀！

profit for each position will be very small. How many stock positions do you recommend in order to make some sizable money out of this method? I would guess it will be a lot, thousands? or even way more than that... Thanks.

Take a look at this simple screener with price > $5, dividend > 1%, avg_vol > 300k, PEG < 3.0, Insider
Transactions > 0.   only 223 stocks satisfy such simple requirement in the entire US stock market.

I am sorry to say: You don't have any quantitative concepts in your brain even you tried to use some numbers in your post.

我感觉我这里人气越来越淡，也许是大家都爱做大盘，不做个股的原因吧。

从理论上，做个股要比做大盘 （make trading by speculating 大盘 moving direction）要安全。也就是说，单位 RISK 收益要比做大盘高很多。但是为什么做大盘的人多呢？

1）懒惰是人的天性，做大盘看起来要比做个股“简单”，这个假象不知道忽悠了多少人，包括一些高手

2）要举出几个个股归零的例子来吓唬人是天下再容易不过的事情了。而要用 portfolio theory来证明做个股比做大盘较为安全则是一件非常困难而且吃力不讨好的事。

3）有些所谓“高手”，大量散布个股危险论，很可能是为了个人目的。因为做大盘小散容易被引到错误方向，经常对的高手如果故意说错一次（偶然说错一次很“正常”吗，对不对？），利益惊人。你要知道，股市二八定律，没有人赔钱“高手”从哪里赚钱？

4）股票论坛也需要鼓励大家争论预测牛熊来吸引人气，因为预测牛熊对做大盘的人至为关键。当然做个股知道牛熊也很好，但是就不那么生死攸关了。大概大家都知道熊市里有牛股，牛市里也有熊股。

5） 不多说了，我知道说了也没有什么用。。。

Sorry! To tell the truth, I have VERY different opinion on this.

I don't ask others to follow my pick. I prefer they make their own decision.  If they follow anybody, include you, that should not be a blind follow just because it is from DaoGe. That should be their own buying standard happened to match yours on that pick. In other words, they are doing their own homework.

In this way, they may make less money in a short run, but they are learning, they are building their own skills， gradually, they will make more money in the long run!

That is exact the advantage of playing individual stocks.

If you play dapan, you are a binary trader, you must decide buy or sell by guessing tomorrow's market. However, if you play individual stocks, you have many many choices to choose from.

Just my 2 cents.
