Reports Q3 (Apr) earnings of $0.38 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.02 better than the First Call consensus of $0.36; revenues rose 10.1% year/year to $9.8 bln vs the $9.75 bln consensus. Q3 (Apr) non-GAAP gross margins 65.4% vs 65.0% Street expectation. Non-GAAP inventory turns were 10.7 in the third quarter of fiscal 2008, compared with 10.1 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007, and compared with 10.5 in the second quarter of fiscal 2008.

this ER further confirms that big cap high-tech CO is still good and no recession for them. bear-brother, we need to think again, why the big bears still not show up for beating bulls down? yesterday and today are very good chance for big bears to beat bulls! Why?

first of all, we should not argue the Co- ER data. I feel bear brothers who believe the banks write-down data, that is good.  but  they may not believe Company's ER data, that is problem.

If we believe both data, it is easier to understand why now the market is very strong.  Recently from ORCL, INTC, IBM, GOOG, AAPL, even MSFT to CSCO, all of them reported good Q-ER!  if you still have question, go ahead do your homeworks and you can find more big cap CO reported good Q-ER, brothers.  Therefore, we see DOW and NAZ are leading up indexes now.  ER is the number #1 drive force for stocks going up!

just look at turning month of Naz in the past 10 years. Usually the market will change the direction at the following month: 1, 4, 7, 10, Why? because in this month most of companies report ER. And also some important economic data for the last quarter will come out. Because most of companies only give their financial data every three months, it is very difficult to predict it for WS. So the changes of ER report could be surprising which can explain why the market usually changes in these months. GOOG is a perfect example for the sharp change of WS attitude to a stock.

1. IMO, 5/5 and 5/6 bears really putted up a fight at those important moving averages –so we see consolidation around the resistance zone for the indicies

 

2. Today, we saw past resistance turning into support on the indices. An early selloff turned into a buying opportunity right around last week’s breakout points.

 

3. All of the indices look ready to test their 200-day moving averages, led by the Dow which actually traversed its 200 DMA today.

 

 

Thus, the next several sessions could be quite interesting. Who will win this game now? Bull or bear?
