Anyone know such a profession in USA?

My friend told me that there is one profession that is not a doctor but as a medical professional to diagnose/read CT or some sort of exam chart. it does not require a MD degree, anyone knows any detail? thanks a lot! what kind of class should one take toward such a profession?
